Duality and hybridized forms continue to be a fascination for me in my artwork. I love and enjoy the world of animals as well as that of mythology. These works explore existence from the perspective of the individual in various emotional states.

Made as a consequence of experimenting with polymer photo etch film onto a metal plate. This I adjusted tonally by adding some of the ‘developer’. By this means it became a plate which I could push ink into, and then print by the intaglio method by rolling it through an etching press. I also printed small copper plate hard ground etchings of medieval birds I drew because I loved their design. I very much like the idea that they are meeting with the latest techniques in printmaking technology. I also used a digital printer of one of my ‘hybrids’ that is 'pigment printed' onto Japanese paper. I then put that onto the surface using rice paste, as an application. The birds became known to me from the time that I lived in Catalonia and discovered the Girona Beatus manuscripts. I like the idea that one’s 'essential self' can be in the past and the present at the same time. At the same time one is completely in one’s own world whether that be a place of contentment or of loneliness.
