Encounters with the Spirit World
14 - 20 August 2016
In August 2016 The College of Psychic Studies invited visitors to encounter the spirit world with an exhibition of over 500 spirit photographs, mediumistic artworks and artefacts relating to séances from 1856 until the present day.
Six floors of a Victorian townhouse in South Kensington showcased the College’s outstanding collection, including the visionary paintings of Ethel Le Rossignol, Victorian writing slates, spirit trumpets, planchettes and crystal balls. Visitors saw the President’s office used by former College President Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the rooms where psychic detective Harry Price built his laboratory.
The exhibition was also an opportunity for visiors to be among the first to see several new acquisitions by Outside In artists Aradne, Chris Neate, Daniel and Jan Arden and international artists Zinnia Nishikawa and Damian Michaels. Their mediumistic, automatic and visionary artworks were an important addition to the College’s collection and expected to inspire future generations of psychic students. Visitors had the chance to purchase artworks by these artists during the exhibition.
