José Forrest-Tennant BA, MA

Visual Artist

As a visual artist my work seeks to explore individuals, society and difference. I am fascinated by people and space and am interested in capturing the moment; instances in time. Earlier work tended to concentrate on photography as I feel a camera can delve quite intently into individual nuances to tell a story. Recent work has seen me turn the camera in on myself to explore my own journey as an individual, a woman and second generation migrant from a diasporan community. I am now exploring space and audience interaction through the use of materials and installation to illicit felt emotions and spectacle with those who engage with my art. My latest work includes an installation at Folkestone Triennial Fringe Festival (2011) entitled Detritus Part I.
