Statement with regards to my practice...

My art practice usually surrounds childhood memories, modernism, architectual spaces, and questions about the consumer society and the impact of the post-modern envoriment in a critical context. In short, a commentary on life in the 21 st century and the 'promises' made for instance, when a re-generation scheme is announced and the ultimate disappointment with the reality sinks in at the end of such projects. I also deal with childhood memories of trainspotting, linking it with my home in the Midlands.

The Tree At The End of The World

A gentle sideswipe at the fact that an ancient Mayan calendar ends on December 21st 2012. The idea of the piece is my personal way to deal with all the rumours and hearsay that we are all doomed. To relax and remain calm. This is represented by the figure reading under the tree.
A Study of Colour and Movement

An excercise in movement, influenced by Titian. Not directly with regards to the classical nature of his work, more to do with his figures and the way he portrayed movement and the method in which he bought his work alive, so to speak.

A Field In The Midlands: Eighty One

This piece reflects my childhood days when I used to go round various parts of the Midlands, trainspotting. It is a sort of wishful thinking moment, as the trains colours are the locomotives original livery from the 1960s before my time. The '81' in the title stems from the locomotive's class after renumbering took place in the late 1960s.
