Paintings from the Visions in my Mind

Patrick Joyce was born in Manchester in 1970 to a family of Irish travellers. He started drawing and painting in 2008 and hasn’t stopped since. Patrick works several hours a day, every day, on his paintings. He sees visions in his head and translates these on to the paper and canvas, with intense concentration and attention to detail. He loves to show his work to everyone. He first exhibited his work in public in 2009 at the What If Gallery in Dartford. Later in the same year two paintings were selected for the Outside In Open Exhibition in Pallant House, Chichester and the subsequent touring show to Hastings and Salisbury. As a result of this show, Patrick's work came to the attention of James Brett who bought several paintings for the Museum of Everything Collection. Through this Collection he exhibited work in the Tate Modern Exhibition 2,The Crunch Festival in Hay on Wye and the fantastic 2011 Exhibition 4 at Selfridges in London's Oxford Street. Patrick has won several Koestler Trust Arts Awards for his paintings, oil pastels and a spray painted bench. He writes "I suffer from Adult Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder and a few more challenges. I get lots of pain through my foot since the age of 27 following a coma. Painting has helped me get through most of it. The art that I create makes me forget my problems – so every day I create not only to relieve my pain, but to bring hope. I paint unique, wonderful, colourful art. It saves me from myself worrying and lessens life’s hardships. I really like art and have found a meaning in life through my paintings. I keep painting most times and I hope to write a book on it some time. I want people to notice my work. My art looks ten times better when you see the paintings for yourself."

I like the titles and the way you have used the same colours but arranged them differently in patterns in each painting.

I love Patrick's paintings, the colours are vibrant and his visions are unique.
