I use many layers of oil paint, applied with knives, and sometimes scraped through with a fork - A bit of a ‘meal’ of a painting. I love working in this way when the paint is thick and chunky with lots of colours. I sometimes throw dried china tea etc. onto a wet layer and then work over it again to give more texture. I like to think of my paintings of this nature as a feast for the eyes as well as a feast for the spirit. Maybe that’s the same thing. What the hell do I know!

A very strong body of work,I like the contrasting areas or genres of work the large series of kaleidoscope portraits the unusual newspaper, painted, collages, the deep much worked portraits. there is a completeness in the work and a wholeness. and glad that Paul continues in his art career.

I would just like to state for the record that none of my work is done with the help of computers. Me and computers do not generally get on. Thank you for your positive and kind comments.

The approach that you have to painting portraits is original.

The collage type images that you create look as though they have been assembled with the help of computer technology but these pieces also have a painterly quality. This is very strong art.
