Stephen White

Art is my life, I have exhibited in many outsider exhibitions. I have a need to create, I could go as far as to say it is an obsession.
I intend the paintings I produce should be objects in their own right. Exisiting in space and time. They are there because I have created them, bringing them into the world. My work is pictorial and of something, but thr form is only a vehicle for producing the marks. I think an individual mark can have beauty in it's own right. Marks that depict something are living communicating something to the viewer.
Even though I have been influenced by artists like Willem de Kooning, Geaorge Baselitz, Frank Auerbach and the Scottish Colourists, I intend to bring some originality to what I do. I have not as yet limited my work to a set stlye and maybe I never will which would limit the way I express myself. Having said that my work has some similarities, one being liveliness in thr way the materials are applied.
I want to make people dance when they look at my pictures.

Stephen was a runner up from Outside In 2007 and now sits on the Advisory Group for the project.

The layering of paint and textures in your paintings is exciting.

Your art works are very charming.

I was away for your preview sorry, urgent at the time. I did view your exhibition and found it very interesting & powerful. Your paintings have always appealed to me.

If you paint a small version for the future will be interested in buying one next year. Can't at the moment but in the future will do.

Dear Stephen, I'm sorry I wasn't t your Opening - I have been on a writing course at Oxford.

I've never seen images of your paintigs before and they are out-of-this world beautiful. Can you tell me what size they are (I have very little space left) and where I can view your work (and the prices!)

very best wishes

Rose
